Mark Hunter, 49, from Marple Bridge, has been a councillor for Stockport's North Marple ward since 1996. In May 2002 he became Liberal Democrat group leader and the youngest ever leader of Stockport Council. Previously contested Ashton-under-Lyne in 1987 and Stockport in 2001.
