Paul was born in 1967, married to Marie with one child. Educated at Alec Hunter Humanities College, Braintree and Southampton university. He has a degree in politics. 

Formerly worked for the Colchester Gazette, he is now a journalist on The Sun. He established the 'Cut Tax on Petrol and Diesel Party' in March 2008.
