Mary Scanlon
Born in 1947. After completing an MA in economics and politics and a diploma in personnel management at Dundee University, went on to lecture in further and higher education for 16 years in Perth, Dundee and Inverness.
Contested the NE Fife Westminster seat in 1992, and became an MSP in 1999 as a Conservative list member for the Highlands and Islands having missed out in the Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber constituency in 1999 and 2003. She has been Tory spokesperson for health and communities.
She is joint convener of parliamentary cross party groups for chronic pain, fertility services, funerals and bereavement and mental Health, and is also a member of the groups on sexual health, epilepsy, and nuclear energy.
