Mev Brown
Melville Brown is 48 years old and lives in Edinburgh, where he is a project worker with homeless people.
A former member of the Conservative Party, he contested Edinburgh East in 2005, before quitting the party. In September 2005 he contested the Livingston by-election as an independent.
He formed his NHSFirst Party in April 2006, to promote the founding principles of the NHS.
The main themes of his campaign were:
Cancel PFI projects and create a Hospital Construction Corporation.
Reform the financial management of the NHS.
Address the bed blocking crisis.
